EXTRUSION / PRESSING – THE BASIS FOR INNOVATIVE ALUMINUM SOLUTIONS

Extruding aluminum opens up virtually unlimited possibilities for the use and optimization of products.
In combination with the right choice of alloys and carefully controlled cooling processes, customized solutions are created that impress both functionally and visually.

THE EXTRUSION / PRESSING PROCESS

During extrusion, a heated aluminum block (called a billet) is pressed under high pressure through a specially designed die.
This creates the desired profile shape – similar to squeezing toothpaste out of a tube.

Key steps in the process:

  • Forming: The aluminum billet is pressed through the die, and the profile continuously exits the press.
  • Cooling: Immediately after exiting, the profile is cooled with air or water to stabilize the material structure.
  • Straightening (stretching): Removal of internal stresses and ensuring the profile’s straightness.
  • Quality control: Precise measurement of functional dimensions and surface inspection.
  • Cutting: Profiles are cut to the required length.

THE ROLE OF ALLOYS

  • Aluminum alloy EN AW 6060: Excellent corrosion resistance and outstanding surface quality – ideal for applications with high demands on appearance and durability.
  • Hardening: After extrusion, alloys can be further strengthened through natural or artificial aging to achieve the final strength.

ADVANTAGES OF ALUMINUM EXTRUSION

  • Flexibility: Production of customized profiles according to specific requirements.
  • High quality: Precise dimensional control and perfect surface quality throughout the entire process.
  • Increased strength: By carefully selecting alloys, the material strength is perfectly matched to the application requirements.
  • Sustainability: 100% recyclable – aluminum can be reused without any loss of quality.
